I Need Your Light

There's an old LDS story that goes something like this:

One day, a man was walking down the street when a younger man came up to him and shot him, point blank in the chest.  The man stepped back, stunned but not hurt.  He reached into his breast pocket and pulled out his Book of Mormon, which had stopped the bullet.  Amazed, he opened the book up to the place where the bullet was embedded and said to the young kid, "See son?  Even this bullet couldn't get through Second Nephi."

Since the day that I started this blog, I've been sort of nervous about getting to this point.  "The Isaiah Chapters", as most people call them, are very difficult to understand. They are obviously very important, or they wouldn't be included in the Book of Mormon.  Jacob, who was ordained an Elder among the people, had chosen to teach them from the book of Isaiah.

And now, the words which I shall read are they which Isaiah spake concerning all the house of Israel; wherefore, they may be likened unto you, for ye are of the house of Israel.  And there are many things which have been spoken by Isaiah which may be likened unto you, because ye are of the house of Israel.

I just hope and pray that as I blog through these next eighteen chapters or so, I will be able to liken these scriptures unto myself and be able to choose portions that I can learn from.  I know that if I pray for understanding, and really ponder what I'm reading,  just as Isaiah said, "..the Lord God will help me."

Who is among you that feareth the Lord, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light?

I'm grateful to have the opportunity to ask the Lord to light my path as I read the words of Isaiah.  Even just writing this has helped me go from being apprehensive to excited.  I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for me over the next week or two!
